2 CE - $20 Instructor: Ryan Byrne In this course, we will examine the prevalence of Wire Fraud (email compromise) and why the real estate transaction is being targeted. We will talk about the number of attacks, and how the amount of this type of crime is exploding. We will go through the Bain v. Platinum Realty case. . . .a case with national implications, as a REALTOR was found personally liable for a wire fraud error. Other frauds will also be discussed: Seller Impersonation Fraud, romance scams, ransomware etc. The second part of the course is devoted to giving tips to avoid falling prey to scams. . . . 2 factor authentication, password and Wi-Fi management, use of VPN’s, Safe Accounts etc. will all be discussed in detail.
